Keeping in mind the basis of both school of thought (functionalist and conflict), which one school of thought you will support with reference to the family institute in Pakistan. Explain your point of view with logic. (10)
Answer: Functionalists view education as one of the more important social institutions in a society. They contend that education contributes two kinds of functions, manifest. (or primary) functions, which are die intended and visible functions of education-, and latent (or secondary) functions, which are the hidden and unintended functions.
Question No 2:
Currently in which family structure you are living: Joint family or nuclear family? How do you see your family structure is befitting you in your life or you want to bring change M. your family structure from nuclear to joint or vice versa, Explain your point of view with. strong reasoning.
ANS: I am a part of nuclear family. Dictionary of sociology has defined nuclear family as ‘A small group composed of husband and wife and immature children which constitutes a unit apart from the rest of the community.’ My family structure is benefitting me a lot as compared to people who live in joint family. I do not want to bring any change in my family structure because I think nuclear family is benefitting me. Reasons are:
- Development of Personality:
Nuclear family plays an important role in the development of personality of individuals. Children are more close M the parents and can have more free and frank discussion about their problems with parents, which helps for the better development of their personality
- Better Condition of Women:
In nuclear families, the condition of woman is better than joint families. She gets enough time to look after her children_ She also gets time to plan and manage her house according to her own idea. There is no interference of elders. Her husband can also devote more attention to the wife nuclear family.
- Peace and Harmony:
Peace and harmony are very mu. essential for a pleasant family life. In nuclear families, there is no misunderstanding and they enjoy a harmonious atmosphere by living together.
- Maximum level of happiness:
The levels of happiness are maximized when the number of kids is limited to two for each family. Those turn into a parent at their young age, which are habitually related to having a bigger family, reported descending happiness trajectories, whereas happiness levels are maximized when pare. were older and had preciously acquired financial and educational resources.
- Involvement of others:
You can hide your problems from others easily. However, in joint family, everybody discusses your problems; needless to say, they will try to express their opinions, remarks etc.
- Total Attention of Parents:
A child belonging to a nuclear family seeks the advantage a having to. attention of his or her pare. over him or her, rather than on their relatives or other matters.
- Innovative living:
Conjugal family set up allows a couple to decide or establish conducts to lead their own lives. They can make new rules, customs, and rituals. Both of them can mix the best of their rituals to form an acceptable and new culture.
- Lack of pressure:
In the small family, people gets the lack of pressure, because there a small amount of family are living in which not any more problems to sustain the life, in fact, it has the better budget.
- Lowexpense:
In Nuclear Family, people have limited expenses.
- Better education:
Specially the mother in nuclear family can give a lot of time to her children’s and pay attention to them in education or can help them in their homewodc.
